There are very few law firms where the partners partnership has endured for 30 years—and fewer still where the partners are married. At Swerdloff & Swerdloff, we are not your everyday law firm.

We are partners personally and professionally in every sense of the word. As family lawyers in West Hartford, Connecticut, we confer and consult on every case we handle. Our law practice includes family matters such as divorce and legal separation; child custody, support and access (visitation); and property division. We also represent people for survivor of sexual abuse claims, personal injury cases, criminal defense matters, and legal malpractice claims.

We serve as both counselors and advocates for our clients. As counselors, we will give you information and advice based on our experience and understanding of the law. We will also suggest various possible outcomes of your legal case. However, you are the boss and we work for you. If you choose to litigate your matter, we will be your advocates. We can be successful in negotiations or in knock-down, drag-out legal battle, if necessary.

We want you to understand what is happening with your case, whether it is a family matter, a claim against a sexual abuser, a legal malpractice case, a criminal matter, an accident settlement, or a legal malpractice case. We will always make ourselves available to answer your questions. If you call our office, you will not have to rely on a secretary, a paralegal, or a first-year associate. You will talk to one of us: an attorney with more than 30 years of legal experience. We do not delegate our legal work to anyone else.

We often serve as the second lawyers in a legal case, as many clients come to us after their legal matter has not been handled to their satisfaction by previous counsel. Because we want your relationship with us to be a positive one, we will not be happy unless you are happy.

Our written fee agreement will clearly explain all rights and responsibilities between attorney and client regarding legal costs. All important pleadings and documents will be forwarded to you on a regular basis to keep you aware of the status of your case.
