In divorce mediation we assist you in resolving family law issues such as child custody and access, child support, allocation of assets and obligations and relocation disputes, if any.

When we provide divorce mediation services, we don't act as the attorney for either party. Instead, we assist the parties in steering their own ship. We explain the law and guide the two parties to a resolution of the financial issues and child custody issues through a series of meetings.

Mediation allows the parties to bypass the trauma of going to family court, which often increases conflict between the parties. Instead, you and your spouse will seek to resolve the issues of your divorce in a series of meetings conducted by the mediator. The outcome of mediation is not binding on either party. When you and your spouse come to an agreement, we will draft the legal papers necessary for filing at the court.

Usually, mediation is much less expensive than a contested divorce. Both parties are paying for the services of one mediator to guide them through the divorce process, rather than each side paying for a lawyer to advocate for his/her position. The process is also less draining emotionally. As mediators we are not there  to make or escalate problems, but to relieve tension, to explain the law, and to help you reach a satisfactory resolution.

As mediators we will help you look for the happily-ever-after divorce in which both parties can attend weddings of children and grandchildren and the religious and school events of children and grandchildren as a restructured family and not as a destroyed family. In addition to divorce, mediation can be used to resolve other family law issues such as child custody and relocation disputes.

Most important in mediation, you and your spouse cooperate and work together to end the marriage just as you worked together to begin the marriage.
